Best of Badin Festival - Badin NC - September 16 - 17

What can I say? It rained and was very chilly! I did sell some of my Badin art, but the things that sold most were the flower notecards with images from the series of photo paintings I created from photos I took at Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens. Two of those images had won NC state-wide competitions and had hung in Raliegh for a year at a time.

Autumn Treasures Festival - Waxhaw NC - October 8 - 9

On this weekend, my students and I took some of our art and graphic designs to the festival in Waxhaw to promote our Advertising and Graphic Design program at South Piedmont Community College. Many of the children's books and photography books created by the students were also there. These things drew a lot of attention to our booth!

One person I met was William Dixon, a photographer who photographs big cats and other things in Africa. He was able to come and talk to my students Thursday, October 27 and show them his photos. What an excellent, exciting, and inspiring speaker!!! Proceeds from sales of his work are given to wildlife rescues. You can see his website here:

Monroe Art Walk - Monroe NC - October 14 - 15

This was the best art walk so far, and the variety and quality was excellent! Our group was located in a new apartment in an old warehouse downtown Monroe that has been converted into 26 apartments. My students brought beautiful photography, digital art, drawings, and books, and they were a great testament of what the students have learned in our program. I had brought my series of Monroe digital art I created from photography I had taken while on medical leave. The largest piece I sold was a 16x20 image of an Aberdeen, Carolina, & Western train engine. You can see it below:

Southern Piemont Artist Guild competition - October

I had entered 4 images from my Monroe collection, and I won a 2nd place on my Secrest Feed and Seed. You can see the image below:

I just finished packaging and framing my artwork that I had printed at HD Photo Lab in Albemarle, NC. The magnets and art prints are beautiful! HD Photo Lab really produces high quality printing!

I am so excited to present my Badin art at the Best of Badin Festival this Friday and Saturday, Sept 16 - 17! The festival starts on Friday at 3 pm until dark, and runs all day and evening on Saturday. My booth will be at the old gas station on the left just as you turn into town. I will be in front of Twila's Thrift and Gift shop.

One of the fun things to do at the festival is to ride the trolley bus up to the dam and go inside to see how electricity is made. There will be lots of venders, artists, food, and such, so, if you want a fun weekend, come to the Best of Badin festival.

See you there!!!

Earlier this week I sent an order to HD Photo Lab in Albemarle to print 3 styles of magnets and my new business cards. I received them today. They are simply beautiful! Within a few hours or receiving them, I sold some to a restaurant in Monroe and to my coworkers at the college.

Today, I sent another order to print two art prints and another style of magnets. I am confindent they will be just as beautiful at my first order. From now on, I am going to send all my printing to HD Photo Lab!

You can go to HD Photo Lab at this link:

You can see my business card below. They were printing on metallic photo paper. I love them!
